Choose from one of three focused breakout presentations designed to dive deeper into key themes shaping the built environment. Whether you're interested in digital tools, implementation strategies, or workforce transformation, this is your chance to explore topics that align with your interests and professional goals.
This case study describes a successful integration and adoption of technology on site: the implementation of visual reality capture tools (fixed and aerial) at the Myron and Berna Garron Health Sciences Complex. Tools such as site cameras and drones provide exciting, real-time glimpses into project progress, wrapped up in accessible interfaces.
This presentation will describe the frameworks developed to utilize these technologies, the evolution of processes to match the needs of the project, and the benefits to multiple stakeholders. This fits into predesigned niches in EllisDon’s ecosystem of digital services, providing value to project teams on-site.
Return for another round of engaging breakout presentations. With three parallel sessions to choose from, you’ll gain targeted insights from subject matter experts and industry leaders tackling the real-world challenges and opportunities driving innovation in our sector.
In this session, we explore how our Digital Practice department transformed the Studio’s Building Information Model into a living Digital Twin—an interconnected ecosystem that integrates asset inventories, space utilization, and operational data. By connecting Revit, SQL databases, Autodesk Tandem, Microsoft SharePoint, and Autodesk Construction Cloud, we established a centralized repository that ensures data remains accurate, accessible, and actionable.
These seamless data flows eliminated silos across our platforms, unified studio operations, and enabled real-time IoT sensor integration for advanced monitoring of studio spaces. By integrating sensor data into a cohesive database and visualization dashboards, we proactively addressed HVAC maintenance, identified issues before they escalated, and reduced operational downtime.
By transforming raw data into meaningful insight, we optimized asset lifecycle planning, enhanced collaboration, and improved decision-making across every stage of operation—laying the foundation for innovation, sustainability, and long-term resilience.
This case study will explore Canam's experience implementing a Common Data Environment (CDE). As a major player in the structural steel industry, we recognized a growing need to enhance collaboration, improve data accessibility, and streamline project coordination across our various teams. This led us to embark on a digital transformation initiative, and our CDE implementation process presented both significant opportunities and unique challenges.
A full scale IoT sensor deployment including a smart water mitigation system was deployed to the 22-storey Wawanesa Tower in Winnipeg for environmental control throughout the construction build. The sensors consisted of temperature, humidity, air quality and leak detection that helped mitigate over $1M worth of finished product and construction material damage throughout the project life cycle. As substantial completion neared on the project, the smart water mitigation system was able to catch a catastrophic leak that was estimated to have saved PCL and the building owner over $3M worth of damages. PCL and Eddy Solutions in this 40-minute case-study presentation, will explore the detailed design and construction deployment strategy that these digital IoT solutions assisted in de-risking the project from major schedule delays and cost impact in proving real ROI when technology is adopted and deployed at scale through a detailed technology plan.
Step away for a brief refresh during the afternoon break. Revisit the Technology Exhibit to catch any displays you may have missed, and take advantage of this time to connect with industry leaders and solution providers before we head into the final sessions of the day.
The momentum continues with a third round of breakout sessions, offering another opportunity to engage with specialized topics and innovative practices across the industry. Choose from three expert-led presentations that provide practical insights and fresh perspectives tailored to your interests.
