About the Event

A propos de l'événement

At the intersection of the construction process, technologies, business, and relationships lie one of the most difficult parts of our industry; estimating. Shifts in the marketplace, changes in client demands, and the introduction of new technologies and tools have made their impact on the industry but how has it impacted the estimating process?

The CanBIM Technical Summit on Construction Estimating will offer informative and innovative insights into how companies can work on improving the estimating process while navigating the unique challenges and opportunities in the industry today. Attend the event to hear about the latest technology and tools available to improve your process and productivity.

How Can Estimators Win More Bids With Tighter Due Dates
How Can Estimators Win More Bids With Tighter Due Dates

Industry study shows that on average estimators lose 6 out of 7 bids. In order to win more projects, estimators need to produce more bids in an increasingly tight deadline and more competitive markets. Orbiseed will talk about the following:

  • What is the current trend in the market on bid win rate and timeline to bid
  • What are some ways to create more bids in less time
  • How you can leverage technology such as AI and robotic process automation to reduce the time spent on creating bid
  • How you can create a better bid without hiring more

Cloud Estimating is Here for Fast, Efficient & Connected Workflow Enablement!
Cloud Estimating is Here for Fast, Efficient & Connected Workflow Enablement!

In an increasingly competitive market environment where deadlines are tight and time is precious, being able to generate quick and accurate bids is of paramount importance. And having instant anytime, anywhere access to data to inform and drive your decisions is crucial. During this session, learn how ProEst enables Preconstruction teams to work from a single connected cloud-based platform in which the estimating, takeoff and reporting process is a tightly integrated one. By digitizing data and eliminating the siloes where that data has historically been managed, Preconstruction teams can automate workflows and greatly reduce the redundant steps and repetitive tasks typically undertaken to get their bids out in a timely, accurate fashion.

Modern 2D/3D Takeoff Workflow

Preconstruction teams are under constant pressure to generate estimates quickly, accurately, and iteratively throughout a project. In this session, we will dive into Autodesk Takeoff to learn how teams can meet these challenges with a common data environment that streamlines collaboration combined with powerful 2D and 3D tools for quickly capturing accurate, detailed takeoffs. In this presentation, you will learn more about:

  • How to get teams on board using a comprehensive 2D/3D takeoff solution
  • How to improve collaboration and transparency among estimating teams
  • How to implement companywide standardsImportance of having access to the latest project data in real-time

Stop Project Surprises by Leveraging BIM and Models Across an Integrated Project Controls Platform
Stop Project Surprises by Leveraging BIM and Models Across an Integrated Project Controls Platform

Over the past few years, we’ve moved from a state of “I can’t get my hands on good data” to “I’m overwhelmed with data coming at me from all angles!” During this presentation, you’ll learn how to sift through the noise and prioritize the data sources that will be most impactful for your construction estimates, and more importantly, leverage that data to produce accurate estimates that are validated by your own performance history.

Does it sound too good to be true?

Join InEight’s Executive Vice President Rick Deans as he explores InEight’s purpose-built integrated project controls platform and demonstrates how customers can create a truly data-driven estimating office.

You will learn how you can build more accurate estimates by:

  • Leveraging your historical estimates and “as-built” costs and workforce hours for similar work.
  • Keeping the cost estimate tied to changes in the model as Engineering goes through its design iterations.
  • Visualizing the impact of changes and what-if scenarios on the project’s budget as new scope is being considered.

Data-Driven Estimating from Planning to Project Controls
Data-Driven Estimating from Planning to Project Controls

Estimating teams are always pressured to create the most accurate project evaluations rapidly. But how and where are we helping themfrom project to project— to gain access to profitable insights from real-time production rates and costs for better overall estimates? In this session, we will dive into how leading companies are using Civalgo’s operational platform today to structure their projects for real-time project collaboration. By connecting Planning, Field Execution and Project Controls, Civalgo allows estimators to gain valuable insight into how to create past cost history, and exploit these assets as the foundation for better, faster future estimates.

Construction Level Estimation from a Federated Project Model
Construction Level Estimation from a Federated Project Model

As more and more projects are requiring 3D model deliverables, and models are now supplied to potential contractors earlier in the project lifecycle, it places greater importance on driving better estimates, more accurately from a model. Our solution for model-based quantity take off (QTO) is unique in the industry because we allow for contractors to break down a federated model into constructible components while adding your established CBS structure to those model components. This is done while honoring the original design intent and handles the change management as the federated model is updated by the designers throughout the project. In this session you will learn the following:

  • Engaging with model-based estimation workflows earlier in the project cycle without loss/duplication of data
  • Breaking down a federated model into constructible components for more accurate construction estimation
  • Leveraging those quantities and production rates from the model to drive scheduling, work planning workflows in the office and field
  • Communicating this data with all project stakeholders via a cloud-hosted solution that increases visibility to reduce time and risk for contractors
