As an emerging innovator in ConTech and Digital Delivery, the Amico Affiliates team developed a 3D Digital Twin Dashboard—'Dimensions'—as a single source of truth. Powered by Autodesk integrations, it connects Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit models, project data, BI Viewer, and Data Connector to sync real-time information into one unified Dashboard.

Problem

The design and construction industry has traditionally lacked a unified platform for managing the full lifecycle of a project. Most digital twin solutions are geared toward facility operations, often overlooking the construction phase. The Grandview Children’s Centre Project presented an ideal opportunity to bridge this gap by implementing Dimensions. Digital Twin Dashboard: Our dimension dashboard brings together critical project data—including clash detections, site activities, material take-offs, schedules, site activities and other key information—into a single digital twin environment. This enables users to efficiently analyze large volumes of data, while promoting real-time collaboration, transparency, and informed decision-making across the project team. Intuitive User Interface: The Dimensions dashboard is built for all users—even those with no BIM experience. Its intuitive layout and interactive 3D model, powered by Autodesk BI Viewer, make it easy to explore and understand project information. Integrating Dimensions into ACC - Insight module, the entire project team can quickly access data in a clear, visual format—simplifying collaboration and decision-making. Lifecycle Asset Management: Upon project handover, facility managers are provided with continuous access link via our dynamic Power BI dashboard. This dashboard remains operational and accessible for five years post-commissioning, enabling ongoing performance monitoring, data-driven asset management, and informed maintenance decisions throughout the initial lifecycle phase. 4D and 5D Integration: The Revit-coordinated model is used to create a 4D dashboard that combines the 3D model with the construction schedule, enabling visual sequencing and improved project coordination. For 5D, the same design models are integrated into a dashboard that supports accurate quantity take-offs, helping teams manage costs and resources more effectively.

Solution

The Dimensions Digital Twin Dashboard is developed to capture and visualize construction lifecycle data by leveraging Autodesk Platform tools, while addressing a critical gap not fully covered by other system solutions like Autodesk Digital Twin Tandem. These platforms tend to focus on facility management, with limited support for dynamic construction-phase lifecycle data in a digital twin format. Unlike conventional digital twins that rely on Autodesk Forge as the core API, this solution takes a different approach—built on the Microsoft Power tools, including Azure, Power Automate, PowerApps, Power BI, and BI Report Builder. This architecture replicates the principles of Autodesk Forge Power Platform by enabling data modeling, automation, and visualization but within Autodesk data exchange plugin. The integration connects directly with Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit Models, the Autodesk BI Viewer, and the Autodesk Data Connector to consolidate model and field data into a centralized dashboard. This dashboard is embedded within the 'Insight' module of the Autodesk Common Data Environment (CDE), providing a seamless user experience and extending the lifecycle capabilities of the Autodesk ecosystem without relying solely on fix systems.
