On behalf of the Building Transformations Board of Directors, we are reaching out to share an important update regarding the Building Transformations/CanBIM Certification Program.
As the industry continues to change, Building Transformations has been considering how best to create value for our members and AEC professionals involved in digital project delivery. Digital skills like BIM/VDC — once considered advanced differentiators — are now increasingly integrated into daily design and construction work and have become fundamental skills and expectations across the industry.
After an independent study and strategic review of those findings, the Board has decided that Building Transformations will end the administration of its standalone CanBIM Certification Program. Starting immediately, we will not accept new applications, and ongoing assessments will be not be completed.
This decision reflects the maturity of digital delivery methods and the organization's desire to focus our efforts where we believe Building Transformations can have the greatest impact over the next 5–10 years — by promoting collaboration, expanding digital transformation, and strengthening professional networks.
For Current Certificate Holders
If you currently hold a CanBIM certification, your credential remains valid and continues to demonstrate your experience, leadership, and understanding of BIM/VDC digital practices.
The board of directors of Building Transformations is exploring ways to support fully certified professionals and past participants through collaboration with other industry associations, including potential recognition or transition options where suitable. More details will be shared as those options develop.
We are also reviewing opportunities to formally recognize those who have contributed to the success and influence of the CanBIM Certification Program over the years.

Assessments will not move forward. Your application will stay in our records and you can contact certification@buildingtransformations.org to discuss full refund options if applicable.
