We are pleased to announce that both CanBIM and IBC/buildingSMART Canada are bringing together two of their key committees to work hand in hand to further the interests of BIM in Canada. Their respective Owners and Education Committees will combine their efforts to address the most pressing issues facing our AECOO community in Canada. This will result in a clear set of outcomes that both agencies can support and endorse in a variety of ways.
Further, CanBIM, IBC/buildingSMART Canada are exploring opportunities for joint presentations and content, such as the CanBIM Regional Session in Halifax NS in June of this year.
Allan Partridge, CanBIM President remarked that “This is a significant step towards unifying all the BIM agencies in Canada, that at their heart, really have the same goals and aspirations” he also added “We will also see a streamlining of the valuable volunteer effort that has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to the committee work at both CanBIM and buildingSMART Canada with much better outcomes.”
Bob Hildenbrandt, Chair of IBC adds “The essence of BIM is a collaborative process that draws together the dedicated work of those involved. How better to demonstrate that collaboration to our industry than to move forward in joining our efforts.”
John Hale, Chair of buildingSMART Canada Operations Committee adds “We are thrilled to be working collaboratively with CanBIM and IBC; this will undoubtedly lead to a strengthened network of excellence for BIM in Canada.”
CanBIM and IBC/buildingSMART Canada believe this will strengthen and create a more robust BIM community in Canada. Both agree that a strong, resilient and highly collaborative community in Canada is needed to improve the design, procurement, assembly and operations of the built environment in Canada. At the same time we will unitedly create a stronger voice within the international BIM community.

Nous sommes heureux d’annoncer que CanBIM et IBC/buildingSMART Canada ont réuni deux de leurs comités clés, lesquels travailleront de concert dans le but de faire avancer les intérêts de la modélisation des données du bâtiment (MDB) au Canada. Les comités des maîtres d’ouvrage et de l’éducation de ces deux entités uniront leurs efforts afin de se pencher sur les enjeux pressants auxquels fait face la communauté des architectes, ingénieurs, entrepreneurs, propriétaires et exploitants au Canada. Cette initiative donnera lieu à des résultats tangibles que les deux entités pourront appuyer et défendre de diverses façons.
De plus, CanBIM et IBC/buildingSMART Canada examinent des possibilités de contenu et d’exposés conjoints, entre autres, la séance régionale de CanBIM qui aura lieu en juin prochain à Halifax, en Nouvelle-Écosse.
M. Allan Partridge, président de CanBIM, a déclaré : « Il s’agit d’un pas important vers l’unification de tous les organismes de MDB au Canada qui, essentiellement, ont tous les mêmes objectifs et aspirations. » Il a ajouté : « Cette initiative permettra également de rationaliser les précieux efforts de nos bénévoles qui font preuve d’un engagement remarquable dans le cadre de leur travail en comité à la fois au sein de CanBIM et de buildingSMART Canada et d’obtenir de meilleurs résultats. »
M. Bob Hildenbrandt, président du conseil de l’IBC, a ajouté : « Le principe fondamental de la MDB repose sur un processus de collaboration qui réunit le travail assidu de tous les intervenants qui y participent. Comment mieux démontrer cette collaboration à notre industrie qu’en faisant avancer nos efforts en unissant nos forces. »
M. John Hale, président du comité des opérations de buildingSMART Canada, a ajouté : « Nous sommes ravis de travailler en collaboration avec CanBIM et l’IBC; cette initiative contribuera sans doute à créer un réseau d’excellence plus solide pour la MDB au Canada. »
CanBIM et IBC/buildingSMART Canada croient que cette initiative créera une communauté MDB plus robuste au Canada. Tous deux s’entendent pour dire qu’il faut une communauté forte, vigoureuse et dotée d’un esprit de collaboration au Canada, afin d’améliorer la conception, l’approvisionnement, la construction et l’exploitation du milieu bâti au Canada. Parallèlement, cela nous permettra de créer une voix unifiée plus forte au sein de la communauté MDN à l’échelle internationale.
