CanBIM Introduces New Board Executive Committee

With the recent CanBIM Toronto Regional Session the Council announced a number of exciting announcements, from Certification Milestones, CanBIM Award recipients, New Board Members and more. As part of the Annual General Meeting activities CanBIM has also announced a New Executive Committee that will oversee the direction of the CanBIM Board for 2017.

With the stepping down of its Past President R. Allan Partridge the Council was appointed a new President. As a founder of the Canada BIM Council and long standing contributor, Thomas J. Strong, was the clear choice for President of the organization. As the VDC Managing Director at EllisDon Construction, Thomas brings with him a depth of understanding of the BIM environment in Canada and a thorough background in the application and processes involved with multi-discipline BIM. Thomas J. Strong is known for his passion for BIM and related technologies and is well known for his acumen in the industry.

Bruce McCallum, Principal at NEXT Architecture and former CanBIM Treasurer was named Vice-President; Bruce is visionary thinker with an extensive background in BIM applied within a multi-discipline firm. Bruce is a LEED accredited professional, with over 10 years experience in the industry, many of which were spent in BIM management within the architectural and engineering industry. Bruce is passionate about facilitating the adoption of BIM at all project stages through smarter integration of all disciplines.

Ian Trudeau, Associate at Entuitive Corporation and former CanBIM Secretary has been appointed as the new CanBIM Treasurer. With 15 years of experience in the building and construction industry, Ian has had significant involvement in a variety of commercial, residential, institutional and educational buildings in the Canadian and Middle Eastern markets using BIM technologies, focusing especially on geometrically complex structures.

With R. Allan Partridge stepping down from his post as President and his position on the Executive Committee, this has made room for a new member on the Executive Committee.

The Council announced the appointment of Pietro Ferrari, Chair of the Education & Research Committee as the newest Member of the Executive Committee. Pietro will be the new CanBIM Secretary. Pietro has been contributing extensively and serving on the CanBIM Board since 2013. Most notably, Pietro has be responsible for the creation and development of the highly successful CanBIM Certification Program. Pietro contributes monthly at board Meetings and will now sit in on the Executive Committee helping to steer the future direction of the Council.

With these new appointments, CanBIM is appropriately positioned to make a positive impact within the Canadian AECO industries, advocating for its Members and fostering new relationships and accomplishing new milestones.
