Richard co-chairs the Task Information Group 92 (TIF92) for the CRTC Emergency Services Working Group which has developed the data model for NG 9-1-1. Next Generation 9-1-1 is a nationwide modernization of emergency communications in Canada, transitioning 9-1-1- services from outdated analog networks to a secure, digital IP-based infrastructure.
Open Standard: Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) is built entirely upon open, internet protocol (IP) standards. The global framework for NG9-1-1 is primarily defined by the NENA i3 standard, established by the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).

Robert Harris is the Next Generation 9-1-1 Data & Solutions Manager at Esri Canada. He is helping to develop standards and best practices as it relates to GIS for NG9-1-1 for Canada. He is the co-chair of Canada's Emergency Services Working Group – TIF92, which will be laying the foundation for GIS for NG9-1-1 services for network service providers, aggregators, and local data authorities across Canada. Robert has nearly 20 years of experience in the GIS and Public Safety industries and holds both GIS Professional (GISP) and Emergency Number Professional (ENP) designations.
