Building Transformations is proud to recognize Thomas Strong as the recipient of this year’s Professional Achievement Award, celebrating his extraordinary leadership, vision, and lasting contributions to the advancement of technology and innovation in the built environment.
As a Co-Founder and long-serving Chair & CEO of Building Transformations, Tom has been a driving force behind the organization’s evolution from a small group of three firms to a North American network representing organizations across the architecture, engineering, construction, and real estate sectors. Over his 16 years on the Board—serving as Secretary, Vice Chair, Chair, and now Emeritus—Tom helped position Building Transformations as the leading multidisciplinary community advancing digital transformation in the built environment.
Under his guidance, the organization hosted over 100 events across North America, built volunteer-led programs, and successfully rebranded and expanded into the US to reflect its expanding mission. Tom’s ability to unite diverse industry voices around a shared goal of innovation has been instrumental in shaping a more connected and forward-thinking construction ecosystem.
Beyond Building Transformations, Tom’s impact has extended across the broader industry. From his early career at EllisDon, where he founded and led the company’s pioneering Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) group, to his leadership as Chief Technology Officer, Tom consistently championed the adoption of digital tools that enhance efficiency, collaboration, and quality. He went on to lead wired.construction, supporting contractors and developers in their technology and innovation strategies, and now serves as Senior Vice President of Construction Technology & Innovation at NFP, an Aon company, shaping the intersection of construction and insurance technology.
Tom's enduring commitment to progress, collaboration, and innovation continues to inspire professionals across the built environment. His achievements reflect not only personal excellence but also a profound and lasting impact on how our industry thinks, builds, and transforms.
