On two fronts: technical and political.
On the technical front, Speckle created an object based data layer with a flexible schema that allows models to be decomposed into individual objects. This innovative object based model allows for a much greater flexibility in how data is both ingested as well as consumed.
On a political front, Speckle's core is fully open source - this includes all key platform components, from the connectors themselves to the server and additional services. What this means is that, in short, we can always be held accountable by our customers and the wider industry; practically this means that any company, regardless of size, can spin up an independent Speckle server and start innovating.
