E-J Electric and Augmenta deployed Spatial AI to accelerate electrical modeling for a 1M+ square foot data center with 290,000 linear feet of conduit, completing the scope in 128 hours— 8.5x faster than the manual benchmark. This demonstrates how Augmenta expands VDC capacity, meeting unprecedented demand for mission-critical infrastructure.
Data centers are among the most complex and schedule-sensitive projects in construction. Their electrical systems require VDC teams to model and coordinate enormous amounts of infrastructure within limited, highly-coveted space, while ensuring designs remain precise, constructible and code-compliant.
For E-J Electric, one of the country’s largest electrical contractors, that challenge came to life on a 1M+ square-foot data center project.
The scale of the project made traditional modeling a significant constraint. Completing the required scope within the project timeline using conventional methods would have been near impossible.
E-J and Augmenta needed to demonstrate that AI could take on this volume of complex modeling without sacrificing the rigor required for such a complex, large-scale project project. The challenge was producing a constructible model at unprecedented speed and scale while fitting into the workflows of E-J’s experienced VDC team.
The Augmenta Construction Platform (ACP) brings AI-powered automation directly into the electrical modeling process.
Instead of requiring VDC professionals to manually route and model conduit throughout crowded 3D environments like tight, complex data centers, ACP automates the underlying design and routing work. The platform takes project requirements and three-dimensional building data into account to generate detailed electrical models, while VDC teams provide project specifications and apply its expertise to guide, review and refine the results.
This “automation you steer” approach changes where skilled VDC professionals spend their time. Rather than manually producing every element of a model, teams can focus more of their attention on the decisions that require their experience and judgment, while ACP handles time-intensive routing, modeling and coordination logic.
The data center project demonstrated how AI-powered design automation could dramatically accelerate modeling on a large, complex data center and create additional capacity for VDC teams.
