CONCORD, Ontario, October 8, 2015 – A Carillion Joint Venture, Boreal Health Partnership, has been selected as the preferred bidder for the contract to design, build, finance and maintain the new Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

The new facility will feature a floor area of over 280,000 square feet and five stories with 105 inpatient beds. Outpatient and inpatient services will include emergency, medical imaging, dialysis, obstetrics, pediatric, cardio and mental health departments as well as day procedure and surgery suites. The new facility, which breaks ground today, will be constructed over a 38-month period and provide excellent facilities to support the needs of the residents of the Northwest Territories and the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut.

With a 50 per cent equity share, Carillion is the lead on the consortium that will build the facility and deliver hard and soft facilities management services for a 30-year period after the facility is built. This includes general management services, housekeeping and waste management, utility management, roads, grounds and landscape maintenance, parking, environmental sustainability, security and catering.

This is Carillion's 10th Public Private Partnership (PPP) hospital in Canada, where we have built a reputation as a market leader in PPP projects, particularly in the healthcare sector.

"We are excited to begin construction on the new Stanton Territorial Hospital," said Carillion President and CEO Simon Buttery. "Today's ground breaking ceremony represents a major milestone in our aspiration to provide the people of the Northwest Territories with a state-of-the-art facility including professional maintenance services that will support healthcare excellence for future generations."
