2016 will bring some very exciting developments to the CanBIM community. Our organization is working towards hosting exciting events, collaborating with members, and developing new initiatives within our eight Committees. Have a look below at some of the exciting CanBIM developments for 2016.

Vancouver: Beyond BIM

As you may know by now, we have an exciting event coming up in mid February. Beyond BIM will focus its efforts towards investigating technological advancements in computing power. The event will explore the vast amounts of data we are now capable of computing and how we can utilize these advancements in design and Building Information Modeling.

Halifax: Sustainabilty and BIM

CanBIM is also very excited to be hosting presentations and panel discussion in Halifax this year. We are working with local organizations and associations to ensure a relevant and timely message, catering to the BIM needs of the Atlantic Provinces. CANS (Construction Association of Nova Scotia) have been announced as a Presenting Partner. This event will be held on June 1st and June 2nd at the Holiday Inn Harbourfront. A detailed agenda will be available soon!

Toronto: Technology Built Innovation 2

CanBIM will also be in Toronto this year with our second installment of Technology Built Innovation. This event will feature panel discussions, presentations and exhibitions focused on AECOO technologies and how this technology is building innovation. This event will be held on October 5th and 6th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. A detailed agenda will be available soon!

Collaborating and Interacting with CanBIM Members in our Newsletter

The last few months we have been developing original content for our monthly newsletter. This content has been made possible with contribution from CanBIM members who have sat down with us for discussions and interviews. This year we will continue working with our members to create original BIM content to share with our community. If you or your firm wants to share a story or experience with us, drop us a line!

CanBIM Research Project: Investigating How Owners Utilize BIM

CanBIM has begun a research project, which will investigate how owners are utilizing BIM. This investigation will seek to report what owners really want from BIM and compare this what they are currently getting. We are calling on all CanBIM members who might have experience with owners and their relation to BIM to reach out and be a part of this report. The report will feature interviews and discussions with CanBIM members ranging from owners, operators to BIM professionals. If you are interested in contributing to this research project, please contact us bshapiro@canbim.com

CanBIM Developing White Paper & Case Study Library

CanBIM is developing a comprehensive library of BIM white papers and case studies based on industry projects, research and past CanBIM Presentations hosted at our CanBIM Events.

This will be an ongoing initiative hosted on the CanBIM Website. It will serve as a great learning resource for the Industry and will give our Members an opportunity to showcase and promote their experience in BIM. Contact us today about your White Papers and Case Studies.

CanBIM NEW Technology Committee
