CanBIM wraps up a banner year with multiple accomplishments and highlights to note.

In early 2015, CanBIM opened with its second Montreal event to a record 200 plus attendees, showcasing some very interesting presentations and its first ever keynote speaker, Pierre Pomerleau. Check out Pierre's riveting opening address on YouTube. CanBIM closed the session with its Inaugural Certification Ceremony handing out just under ten certificates. A great start to 2015.

Following Montreal was the Inaugural Technology Built Innovation event which promised to be the largest CanBIM event to date and with three separate meeting rooms catering to three separate disciplines (Designer, Builders & Owners and Facility Managers), over 35 vendors, 65 plus speakers and presentations and over 275 attendees CanBIM surpassed any other event to date.

To close out the year in proper fashion, CanBIM first served up its Annual General Meeting (AGM) where Members and attendees were informed of CanBIM progess reports and the future direction from each of its seven CanBIM Committee Chairs. Immediately following, was the Inaugural and Annual CanBIM Awards presentation, where CanBIM awarded excellence in BIM in Interoperability, Innovation and the Best in BIM. Following the Awards show, the next day, CanBIM presented a series of presentations on "BIM as a Business Decision", and close out the event by handing out a record 30+ CanBIM Certification's.

In all, in 2015, CanBIM cemented its postion as the active leader in the Canadian BIM Community and as the business voice for Canada BIM Community. CanBIM is looking forward to an even bigger 2016, with some of the following intiatives to come:

2016: A Year In Focus

The CanBIM Education & Research Committee plans to make a few announcements pertaining to CanBIM Certification. The Trades Committee is working on initiaitves that will aide in deeper collaboration and breaking down barriers within the various Trades groups, but also with other stakeholders in the process. The newly minted International Committee is making plans to create an impact on the global stage and will work with other CanBIM Committees to deliver progress on this front. The CanBIM Awards will expand with the introduction of Awards Categories that award excellence within the disciplines and thus the Award count will double making the 2016 Awards a bigger platform for BIM Excellence. The Vancouver Regional Session on Feb 16th - 17th will play host to a special announcement regarding the CanBIM Awards. With three events planned in Vancouver (Feb), Halifax (June) and Toronto (Sept) there will be plenty of actitivity in coming year.
