Building Transformations Elects Brandon Searle as the New Chair of the Board & Executive Committee

The Building Transformations Board of Directors is pleased to announce the election of Brandon Searle as the new Chair of the Board. This appointment follows the decision of Pietro Ferrari, the outgoing Interim Chair, to step back from his role as Chair while remaining a valuable member of the Board. Pietro will continue to serve as director of the Certification Program.

Brandon Searle brings a wealth of experience and leadership to his new role as Chair. He has been an active member of Building Transformations for several years and has demonstrated a strong commitment to the organization's mission and goals. Brandon helped form and was the inaugural chair of the Prefab, Offsite and Modular Think Tank followed by completing terms as Secretary and Treasurer on the Executive Committee. He also brings experience through his involvement with other professional associations and not-for-profit organizations. His vision and dedication will undoubtedly guide the organization through its next phase of growth and development.

Pietro Ferrari (George Brown College) has been an integral part of Building Transformations for the past decade, Helping to establish the Certification Program, serving with distinction as Vice Chair and interim 2023 Chair. His contributions to the organization's success and his dedication to advancing technological innovation and sustainable building practices have been invaluable. The Board expresses its gratitude to Pietro for his service as Interim Chair and looks forward to continuing to work with him in his role on the Board.

Brandon Searle expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Chair, stating, "I am deeply honoured to take on this role and to work alongside such dedicated colleagues. Building Transformations plays a crucial role in driving innovation and progress in the building industry, and I am committed to building on the strong foundation laid by Pietro Ferrari and the previous leaders. Together, we will continue to advance our mission and make a positive impact on communities and the built environment."

In addition to the new Chair, Hannu Lindberg (DPR) was elected to the Vice Chair role and Hammad Chaudhry (EllisDon) was elected to Treasurer. These changes to the Executive Committee follow our recent announcement that Gerry Lattmann, our Executive Director, is transitioning in his career and we are actively seeking a new executive director. Thomas Strong (wired.construction), former Chair and co-founder, will continue to act as fractional CEO and assist in the transitions to its new management team, stating “We are delighted to have this excellent and enthusiastic volunteer Board, which is willing to take up the mantle to carry this organization into the future. We have never been stronger as an organization and we are tremendously excited about our future!”

Brandon will lead this newly elected Executive Committee who manage the overall direction and governance for the organization on behalf of its members. The 2024 Executive Committee includes:

  • Brandon Searle, President & Chair (Director, UNB Off-site Construction Research Centre)
  • Hannu Lindberg, Vice Chair of the Board (Construction Technology Executive, DPR Construction)
  • Hammad Chaudhry, Treasurer (Vice President, Innovation and Construction Technology, EllisDon)
  • Mark Cichy, Chief Data Officer (Principal, Director of Design Technology, HOK)
  • Nibras Yacoub, Secretary (VP Operations, NORR)

Building Transformations would also like to thank Helen Goodland, (Head of Research, Scius Advisory) who is stepping back from the Vice Chair role.
