Over 35 years ago, our founders envisioned a new breed of construction firm. A firm built on honesty and integrity. A firm that understands each customer is unique and deserves a tailored approach. Today, Chandos has offices in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer -- each serving its community with a wide variety of construction services, most notably, BIM. We utilize BIM to enhance our performance and because we recognize the value of innovation in our industry -- it allows us to constantly improve our practices, build respect and communication within our team, and strengthen our knowledge on all aspects of a project.
BIM has allowed the Chandos team to realize several benefits, including but not limited to:
Higher Building-layout Accuracy
On a recent project, we found that tying the BIM team with the survey team’s TotalStation and using it for all aspects of project layout allowed us to achieve a higher degree of accuracy with both layout and installation. Among other benefits, this helped our steel erection team beat their best install time by 30 percent.
Fewer In-field Conflicts
We’ve found on numerous projects that Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing designs are not available in 3D. Using BIM to create our own in-house models for these aspects of the job has resulted in a significant decrease in field conflicts and associated rework.
Common Understanding Across All Teams
Virtual reality has become one of our strongest modes of communication when it comes to project specifics. On our projects, you will find QR codes placed strategically throughout the job site so that subcontractors, owners, stakeholders, designers, consultants and architects can all follow a link to view the finished space of that specific location. This method of communication has supplemented collaborative project culture and aligns the team with a common understanding of what needs to be accomplished to achieve the vision.
