Job Summary

Our Alternative Delivery Group is seeking an energetic BIM Specialist who is interested in advancing their career by joining the team leading the above exciting high profile and complex multi-disciplinary transportation projects and who can work and coordinate closely with ADG management, in-house architectural, general engineering, and civil design discipline teams to deliver high quality design deliverables with the use of sophisticated BIM software. The successful candidate will be based in either AECOM’s Mississauga, Ontario office or Whitby, Ontario office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

The BIM Specialist Director would be part of the overall digital-first strategies and empower global work-sharing, standardization and optimization workflows between Buildings and Infrastructure designs while harnessing technology for data control throughout the project’s lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Support implementation of Digital twin processes and support the implementation of ISO19650 standards.
  • Perform various Building Information Models (BIM) tasks such as reviewing and managing project electronic model files, drawings, and documentation.
  • Audit model files ensuring that they meet AECOM’s and project standards and project's BIM Goals.
  • Support team that monitors, federates, and coordinates project designs interfaces, working with project partners and third parties in the program 3D environment to resolve spatial and chronology coordination issues.
  • Ensure projects have a defined BIM Execution Plan and champion fulfillment of the plan throughout the project's lifecycle.
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing the performance of the models.
  • Act in a leadership capacity to assist and support the discipline technical team for both design and production.
  • Proactively identifying potential coordination issues and act as a subject matter expert for design software products & BIM related issues while maintaining best practices?
  • Maintain constant communication with Alternative Delivery Technical Team to ensure bi-direction communication between management and project teams.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor Degree in a relevant technical discipline: engineering, architecture, etc. + 6 years of relevant experience in delivering a multi disciplinary infrastructure project OR Technical Diploma + 8 years experience in delivering a multi disciplinary infrastructure project

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally 8 years of experience in multi-discipline infrastructural and building / civil engineering field with working experience in BIM technology lead role including production and coordination.
  • Able to support design authoring software such as: Bentley’s Microstation; OpenRoads; Autodesk’s Civil 3D; Revit and Navisworks.
  • Strong knowledge of Digital Twin implementation & ISO 19650.
  • Able to work with Dynamo & Infraworks is an asset.
  • Strong command of BIM360 & ProjectWise for project setup.
  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Teams; SharePoint & BlueBeam tools.
  • Experience successfully managing complex transit projects.
  • Familiarity with inter-operability between discipline-specific software programs, showing awareness of the differences between BIM for building and civil.
  • Experience in 3D design and multi-discipline coordination, managing models and facilitating data exchange.
  • Excellent communication skills for the team-based working environment and for mentoring others about best practices in BIM.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills required for fast-paced projects.
  • Highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges.
  • Ability to interact with external entities (clients, owners, agencies) to interpret and understand desired BIM or CAD delivery requirements.
