Biographie

Andrea Lee is certified as a Specialist in Construction Law by the Law Society of Ontario and a partner of Glaholt Bowles LLP, a leading Canadian construction law firm. Andrea is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers and immediate past Chair of the OBA, Construction and Infrastructure Law Section.

Andrea obtained her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Law from Queen’s University. She obtained her RICS Diploma in Adjudication in 2020.

Andrea practices exclusively in construction law. She acts for owners, contractors, design professionals and insurers in a variety of proceedings including litigation and arbitration involving liens, trust claims, delay claims and professional negligence. Andrea regularly advises parties in the industry with respect to construction contracts and professional design agreements.

Andrea is a co-founder of the construction law course at Queen's University and teaches construction law as part of Osgoode's LL.M program. She is also a skills instructor at The Advocates' Society. Andrea regularly speaks at programs offered by the legal and industry associations, published articles and papers on construction law topics and co-authored chapters focused on design professionals in Halsbury's Laws of Canada, Construction and Review of Construction Law: Recent Developments. Andrea has also co-edited the recent update to Bidding and Tendering, What is the Law? (6th edition).

Andrea is a member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, Practice Support Committee. She is a mentor to young lawyers through the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers and the OBA Mentorloop program. She has been recognized by Lexpert, Who's Who Legal, Benchmark Litigation and Best Lawyers.

Cheri Hanes

Vice President, Head of Construction Innovation and Sustainability - AXA XL

As Head of Construction Innovation and Sustainability at AXA XL, Cheri provides strategic leadership and direction in sustainable construction and innovation via the implementation of processes, technology, unique insurance solutions, and enhanced customer service initiatives across all construction lines of business.

She is dedicated to supporting AXA XL’s clients’ innovation efforts, sustainability, and technological maturity, which improve both individual enterprises and the industry as a whole. She is committed to developing innovative insurance solutions to support sustainably focused, technology-forward, innovative companies.

She is also a thought-leader, ambassador, and spokesperson for AXA XL, presenting at industry events and educational organizations.

Cheri has more than 30 years of industry experience in insurance, sustainable building, preconstruction, operations, and project management. Before joining AXA XL, Cheri’s most recent role was with Yates Construction’s Fort Worth Texas office in Operations and Sustainability Management. Prior to that, she served in Preconstruction and Sustainability for LendLease Dallas. Her passion for construction risk management has its roots in her experience as a Partner in a small residential and tenant improvement construction company.

Cheri is a Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS), LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), and a Construction Document Specialist (CDS).

Sean Hoare

Manager, Senior Vice President - Construction & Infrastructure Practice - AON

Sean Hoare currently serves as Manager | Senior Vice President - Construction Services Group in Ontario. Sean began his insurance career in 2002 and has been at Aon since 2008. Sean is responsible for retention, growth and profitability of the Ontario Construction Services portfolio.

Over the course of his career at Aon, Sean has been fortunate to work with many of Canada’s largest construction contractors on their practice portfolio’s and on a wide range of projects, including several P3’s across Canada.

Sean graduated with a BA from the University of Toronto and has earned several industry designations including: Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (2009), and Canadian Risk Management (2006). Sean is also a graduate of Aon’s Leader’s of Tomorrow program.

Jason Lewis

Chair, Project Delivery & Risk Management Think Tank - Building Transformations

Jason is currently a Chair of the Building Transformations Project Delivery & Risk Management Think Tank. Jason regularly speaks at programs offered by legal and industry associations and has delivered lectures to students at Osgoode Hall Law School and McGill University.

Jason graduated with Common and Civil Law degrees from the University of Ottawa in 2007 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2008. Prior to commencing his legal studies, Jason received a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University in 2002. Before joining Lafarge, Jason practiced with one of the world's leading professional engineering services firms. He has also practiced Construction Law and Land Development law with a global real estate development company, was an associate at a boutique land development firm in Toronto and started his career at the Regional Municipality of Halton.

Lampros Stougiannos

Lampros advises private and public sector clients on the development, construction and operation of projects in a variety of sectors, including transportation and transit, municipal and social infrastructure, healthcare, energy, mining and real estate. He possesses strong, established regional and global knowledge on matters involving the structuring, procurement, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of projects implemented under a range of delivery models, both in Canada and abroad. Lampros is a sought-after writer and speaker on legal topics relating primarily to construction and infrastructure law, including on issues surrounding the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes, smart contracts and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) in the construction sector.
