Summary

Résumé de la présentation

This session will consist of two presentations are under the theme of creating tools for designers in architecture. The first will be to integrate at the beginning of the project the program to quickly design improvements. It's a step that involves several studies and options, so designers need to be able to maneuver quickly without being cluttered with tools that are not really made for that. We will see how to set the stage for designers with data from Excel to Revit, and through to Dynamo + Python. The second presentation has the same goal, to create tools to be more effective in design. At the beginning of the project, accuracy is more important than fine detail and that is why the tool for creating stairs in Revit is not suitable. In this example, we will see how to create stairs with a simple 3d box inside Revit with programming done in C# .

Biographie

Senior Architect, holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Montreal and a UQAM's degree in graphic design, Emanuel Favreau has developed an expertise in the field of domain of 3D modeling, virtual reality and application development. On the lookout for new trends and seasoned professional in 3D presentation, modeling of complex geometry, digital mockup management, automation and interoperability that in integrating virtual reality into BIM, he is recognized in the field as a person serious and available with whom it is pleasant to work. He has also given several courses to professionals on the use of complex software. Mr. Favreau who has acquired a diversified experience as much in the graphic realization, technology than in the control of software has moved in recent years towards the development of tools facilitating the use of complex software: animation software for Revit directly linked to the Maxwell rendering software [a 3D rendering software developed by the company Next limit]; an extension allowing the direct transfer between Revit and Sketchfab [hosting site and reading 3D files online]; an extension allowing the direct transfer between Revit and Unity3D and Unreal Engine [cross-platform game engine]; an extension allowing the writing of Revit models in obj and mtl formats as well as a series of extensions allowing automation, interoperability and image processing for Revit, Navisworks, 3DS Max and Windows. With over fifteen years of experience in using BIM on large scale projects and all the stages of the development of the project, Mr. Favreau contributes actively today to make MSDL Architects a recognized BIM reference in the construction sector and maintain the firm in its position as Quebec leader in this field.

Yien Chao

Architect | Director & BIM Manager | Computational BIM Expert, MSDL

Mr. Yien Chao is a senior architect and holds a master's degree in architecture from the Université de Montréal. He has touched on various aspects of architectural practice thanks to the wide range of projects he has collaborated on. His many graphic and technical achievements as well as his remarkable software skills have allowed him to develop a deep understanding of visualization technology. In recent years, it has been oriented towards BIM management, enabling the achievement of high efficiency and optimization standards in building design and documentation. As a BIM Manager, Yien Chao worked on various mandates involving the management of multidisciplinary teams and for which he had to ensure that the objectives of the project were constantly aligned with those of the client. Through the integration of optimal and innovative solutions, through his effective management of the production and transfer of project information, Chao facilitates collaborative work and interactions between various stakeholders. From the design process of the architectural project to the preparation of the execution drawings, Mr. Chao brings imagination and vision to the tasks of modeling and presentation of architectural projects. He knows how to produce reliable and orderly documents allowing informed decision-making for all participants and during all phases of realization. Versatile, Mr. Chao is active and involved at all stages. The quality of his work and his speed of execution make him a key person to answer effectively the constraints and the challenges of a project, and a member appreciated by his team as well as by the customers. In order to ensure that the firm is among the leaders in BIM PROJECTS, it is on the lookout for new trends and very active on BIM specialized sites such as: ARCHI-LAB, Dynamobim, Revit OpEd, Revit Clinic, Simply complex and Autodesk forums / ideas.
